The two Henry Clay bass fishing boats placed 30th and 51st out of 88 boats in the KHSAA State Bass Fishing Championship. Keaston Brown and Harris Hawkins were 30 and Ethan Whitaker and Ben Bates were 51.
Brown/Hawkins caught 10 fish over the two-day tournament totaling 17 pounds 15 ounces, only 16 ounces out of 20th place. Whitaker/Bates caught 10 bass totaling 16 ounces 1 ounce, only 16 ounces out of 41st place. The winning team from South Laurel High School also caught total fish but totaled 32 pounds 13 ounces, including the biggest bass of the tourney – 5 pounds 4 ounces.

The championship was held May 10-11 on Kentucky Lake in Western Kentucky.
The qualifying teams from each of four 2019 KHSAA Bass Fishing Regionals are invited to compete. Each team can weigh a maximum of five bass each day. The 2019 KHSAA Bass Fishing Champions are determined by the heaviest two-day catch. Ties will be broken first by heaviest bass from either day of competition then by total number of bass.
