Archery Champion

Senior Sarah Palmer had not competed in archery before her freshman year.  She took it up at the suggestion of her mother and has more than excelled at the sport.  In her senior year her average score was 289.166.
She has won the Fayette County Championship the last two years with a score of 290.  Sarah placed 2nd out of 1,145 girls at the 2019 NASP KY State Tournament with a score of 294 out of 300 and won a $1,000 scholarship.  She placed 1st at the 2019 KHSAA Girls Region 8 Tournament with a score of 296 out of 300, which is a school record.  Sarah has been named to the All-City Archery team for the last three years including 1st Team in 2018 & 2019.  She has been the top female archer in Fayette County the last 2 years.
Sarah is the first archer from Henry Clay to advance to the KHSAA State Tournament.

Athlete of the Month – Ramond Jackson – Track – Senior
-Member of the 2016 State Championship team
-3 time state champion 4×100 relay
-2 time state champion in the 4X200 relay
-Member of the school record in 4×100 relay
-All-City in football in 2018, 2017 and 2016
-All state in football in 2018
Athlete of the Month – Isabelle Kauffmann – Tennis – Junior
-Girls Tennis is currently 17-0 and have swept Lexington
-Record for 2018 – 9-1
-Member of the Sectional Team Tournament Champions
-Varsity Letters in 2017 and 2018
Coach of the Month – Garrett Headley – Wrestling
-Assistant coach for the wrestling team since 1983 – 36 years and going!
-Wrestled at the University of Kentucky and went on to be a grad assistant at the University of Iowa
-Has helped 21 wrestlers move on to compete at the collegiate level
-Coached 18 individual state champions and 2 HS All-Americans
Alumni of the Month – Dana Newsome Corbett – College Cheer – Centre College – Class of 1988
Dana Newsome Corbett (1988) cheered from 1985-1988 during the Coach Donna Robinson Wilson era.   She was on a 2-time National Championship team and a 3-time State and City Championship team.   Dana was named an NCA All-American in 1986 and 1987.   She went on to cheer at Centre College and graduated in 1992.  Following her father’s footsteps, Dana continued her education at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.  Practicing dentistry now for over 21 years,  Dana resides in Lexington with her husband Mike and their 3 children, Cassie, Maggie and Jackson.
